Distributor pickup coil aka Switch Plate

My Jeep stopped dead half way out of the gate this morning. It is absolutely dead, no sign of trying to start.

The OBD1 flashing light system pointed at the pickup coil in the distributor. There are plenty to be found on the net from a very expensive Crown one to not so expensive Shanghai ones. They all look identical.
It is part number 5602 7023, which is embossed onto the disc.

I want to know how to test the one I have got. It has three wires. I can't find anything on YouTube other than two wire ones. Can anyone help with that?
Because of the delay that I always suffer getting bits sent here to Spain, does anyone have a spare they could let me have or point me to where I can find one. Money will of course have to change hands. I have no car at present and food will need to be replenished soon.
I live in the wilds so a car is vital.

1994 XJ with a 4.0L right?

Does your coil look like this one:

if so, I think this is the test procedure:

Hi Terry, thanks for the quick reply. Sadly it's not the coil that seems to be the problem, its the disc that goes inside the distributor with the Hall effect switch. It has a three wire lead coming off it and I have no idea how to test it. YouTube has not suggested anything.
All suggestions welcome. Mike

Here is today's update. The car is running again.
Having removed the pickup and found I could not test it so I ordered a new one and a crank sensor at the same time, just in case.

For no real reason I decided to fit the disc back in the distributor and give it a try, it's only a 5 minute job. By some miracle it started and sounded just like normal and I have now used it for a couple of days with no issues.
I have no idea what I did but I did drop it on the ground on the way to the car. Is this a new cure for these problems?????
