RPM dips/engine stalls at idle (intermittent), 99 4.0

NOPE! I mean seafoam through the intake. The aerosol seafoam bottle with the thin straw applicator in the pic goes into either the TB or a vacuum line to the intake. Heat engine up and follow directions.

    Time for another water pump

The fan should turn 1.5-2 times with a good push. If it doesn’t move or if it spins several times the clutch is done.. Was the engine up to temp or stone cold? Never look down on anyone unless you are helping them up - Jesse Jackson

RPM dips/engine stalls at idle (intermittent), 99 4.0

Another cheap if not near free thing is to sea foam the engine or steam it to clean carbon off of the cylinders and valves. This goes along with changing spark plugs, cleaning grounds, and TB +IAC every 30k miles. Once cleaned every few thousand miles drive s quarter mile with the engine up...

RPM dips/engine stalls at idle (intermittent), 99 4.0

With the engine running very carefully take the longest screwdriver and place it on the back of each injector. No long hair, hoodie strings or lanyards chains or anything dangling from your body. Lean in and place your ear on the back of the screwdriver. You should hear clicking. The clicks are...

Im not saying change your intake. I will always say prove out what is wrong before swapping. Im just saying the stock is known to crack. There are plenty other reasons for the pum pum sound that is not tripping a misfire code 0300 thru 0306. These are difficult to track down. Post up a video...

Hunting down a miss is difficult. It could be expensive if like yourself you change things before verifying they are bad. How bad is the miss? Post up a video recording of the running engine driver side of the engine capturing the miss. No if its past the CAT it should not be an issue...

What to happen?? The near stall when you slow below 5 mph? Happened on mine when I cleaned the TB and didn’t plug it in correctly. Happened on the patriot we own and the liberty when it failed. Never look down on anyone unless you are helping them up - Jesse Jackson

RPM dips/engine stalls at idle (intermittent), 99 4.0

    1. Disconnect the POSITIVE battery Terminal and touch it to ground for 30 seconds. Or try to start with positive disconnected. This is to discharge the PCM capacitors, which maintain the Adaptive Memory. 2. Reconnect the Battery Cable 3. Turn Ignition Switch to the "ON" position but DO NOT start...

RPM dips/engine stalls at idle (intermittent), 99 4.0

How does it know?? PCM uses the TPS to know how far the skinny pedal is depressed. It also uses O2 sensors to keep the gas ratio in-the zone. When you’re coasting down the highway it is likely 1500-1800rpm maybe less. When you apply the break the wheels slor. Then the trans stalls the engine...

RPM dips/engine stalls at idle (intermittent), 99 4.0

Did you reset your PCM after replacing parts? If you haven’t the system is tring to use old data to run. It will take app500 mi and 50 cold starts to relearn. Before thst it uses factory presets. When the TPS is not connected the vehicle will have issues at idle. Esp when slowing to a stop...

    Random Misfire, No Codes

Usually vac leaks cause high idle. >750rpm. Bad leak near 2k rpm. Smaller 900-1000rpm Non OEM IAC,TPS, CpK and CpS even O2 will fail right out of the box. Never throw the Originals away until you prove it was bad. Never look down on anyone unless you are helping them up - Jesse Jackson

RPM dips/engine stalls at idle (intermittent), 99 4.0

IAC controls the idle. TPS controls skinny pedal / fuel ratio. If the TPS is not reading zero pedal this rev issue may happen. Or if the TPS had bad connection. With engine off, by hand open and close the TB butterfly valve 20-50 times. Blow off the TPS with air and unplug and replug it back...
