    New From TN

Welcome! I looked at your albums and saw one (or maybe both) from Coon Creek. I guess that means you're from West TN? If you ever come East, several of us are over here. Drop us a line.

Bingo! I think I found the TJ for me :D

Carfax is a good idea. I'd also take it somewhere (to a good 4wd shop and/or mechanic's--with the owner's knowledge) and have it checked out. That might cost you $50 or $80, but you'd get a sound opinion on the mechanical condition of the vehicle. They might be able to spot something you...

    63 cj

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't all the parts from the doors forward be interchangable with the same-year CJ-5?

Sign it!!! Make Obama prove is eligibility!!!

Excerpted from the National Review (for those of you who don't know, a very conservative magazine) Online (Read the full article here: http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MjQyOTgxM2M0YWMxOTdhZDcwMzlmMDU1ZGYxNzFkMmQ= ) The continuing efforts of a fringe group of conservatives to deny Obama his...

United Auto Workers Union agrees to suspend the Jobs Bank

The job bank isn't even the worst problem the UAW has caused the American auto industry. The greatest problem is the level of benefits the car manufacturers have to pay. Here in the South, our auto industry (American divisions of foreign manufacturers) is doing just fine. That's because the...

    33" street tires?

The short answer is yes, several manufacturers will make a tire that is about that diameter with a street tread. Of course, if you have a funky rim, then you might have trouble (for instance, I don't know if you'll be able to find a 33" diameter street tire that fits a 15x10" rim). You almost...

    That's an awesome Jeep--and I don't even hunt.

    What T-case/Trans for My CJ?

Yes, you can get a Tera Low gearset for a Dana 20 that will give you a 3.15 low range. If you're happy with your high end, then that's what I'd do. The T-18 is a great transmission.

    Warn vs. Ramsey

Does anybody know anything about the old worm gear Ramseys? I don't see them much any more. I know that they're real old school technology, but they look foolproof. Also, they draw less amps than a planetary gear setup. I see that they're still sold retail, but they seem much more expensive...

    How tall is your antenna?

I use a fiberglass antenna that extends above my roof. So far, it's gotten smacked around, but hasn't broken off. It actually attaches at the bumper--not the spare. If you attach the antenna lower, you can get more length without going over the roof line at all or as much.

    Newbie with a question.

Maybe I'm being thick, but why do you need a salvage title and to do the whole buy/sell scam? Just have them give you the difference between the two prices in cash, and keep the Jeep and repair it. Or is this an issue local to your state?

What Do You Hate About Your Jeep?

My steering wheel keeps pushing closer to my belly every year. I don't understand why AMC made such a thing . . . .

    Your Favorite Mod

If you're looking to step up in off-road ability, I'd go for a serious Mud Terrain tire (some are streetable, too), and selectable lockers (there when you need them, but out of sight--or feel, as the case may be--when you don't).

    It's a Hummer thing ?

Truth be told, it doesn't seem to me that what the story describes is too different from what one experiences at a Jeep Jamboree--folks who love their machines and love getting out and making them perform in the woods. Personally, I'll wave at Jeeps, but I'll also wave at other 4wds which are...

    CJ axles for 100?

6 bolt hubs from a CJ? Should be 5x5.5.

    Perfect shifting?

It doesn't seem to me that there's an objective answer to this question. It all depends upon how much you value power over gas mileage (or vice-versa), how quickly you need to get up to speed, what you're trying to do, etc. My old YJ used to have a light that came on telling me when to...

What manual transmission works with a 258 i6 and a D300 transfer case?

The T-176 should suit your needs well. I think it came stock with this set-up. It's stronger than the T-5, but doesn't have the overdrive. The T-18 is awesome, but I'm not sure it ever came from the factory with the 300 transfer case. You can get an adapter, but it will cost you. The T-176...

Changes from 1975 to 1976 Jeeps?

The 1972-75 models are basically identical, but there were changes made to the body after 1975. I'm not sure what they all are, but I'm pretty sure one of them is that the windshield channel was altered, meaning you have to have a different style of top. Another, of course, is that the older...
