    rusted... fix? or replace?

See if you can find a local scrap yard that sells odd pieces of steel. Get some 16 gauge sheet metal & go to town. It's not gonna be that expensive unless you have to hire someone to weld it.

    Four wheel drive!!

Those multi-colored plastic lines are impervious to all automotive chemicals. Except battery acid! I love my posi-lok cable, but it wasn't cheap. Prolly gonna miss it when I go to D-60's.

Gotta love the "glub-glub" lopey cam sound at idle!!!

    whit is this tool called??

I trust a chain that's bolted to at least the steel head, before I trust a few 5/16" studs that are screwed into aluminum. I know these things are used by many folks, but V8's are heavy.

Issues with "Reply to thread" button.

Yes, it's working now. maybe it was like you said & I highlighted something without realizing it. This was the thread i was trying to reply to (several times) yesterday. I ended up sending the O/P a PM with the link...

Issues with "Reply to thread" button.

For some weird reason, I was unable to reply to the YJ traction bar thread today. Clicking it brought me to the usual box, but only for a few seconds. After that it was just a big blue box that did nothing. backpaging & refresh did nothing to help.:o

    windshield replacement

X-elventy on the pro install. I'm pretty good with most fixes & prolly could have done it, but my job at the time didn't give me enough time to do it (Xmas overtime). So I paid a guy $120.00 & he did a great job, fixing rust & repainting the frame with cold galvanize paint.

    this should work...in theory....

Putting a carb & intake manifold (if they make one) on would be the easy part. Figuring out what to do with all the wires & hoses would not.

    Carb?

You can add me to the list of folks who are hollering at you!:D Do the MC2100 deal, it's easy & all the cool kids are doing it too. The adapter is Mr. Gasket # 1937 & is available through Advance Auto.

    My cold natured YJ

Sounds like the float level may need adjusting. Are you still running the stock carter BBD? Swapping that for an MC2100 is the hot ticket. Cheap too, if you rebuild one from a junkyard. less than $100.00 for me including the adapter & chrome air cleaner.

    cj5/dj5

Back in the early 1990's one of the 4WD magazines ran an article on chopping the top off a DJ, & converting it over with a CJ drivetrain. I have to agree to just use the DJ tub if you like that top so much.

    Clutch fan

I tried removing the fan clutch on an old V8 Plymouth Duster I had. It actually hurt my 60 foot times at Atco raceway in N.J. I lost about 3/10ths of a second in the 1/4 mile E.T. on a mid 15 second car. Gas mileage suffered as well. If I ever buy a vehicle without one, I will install it myself.

can someone help me with surface rust question?

I was just kidding with you, mine in the YJ look only slightly better. Gonna be sweet when you get them back! I just took delivery on some JCW racing seats, but they need some coaxing to end up being usable.
