Newbie paid $500 for this CJ7

Thank you! Calling my YJ ugly is the supreme compliment!!!:D You should try to stop old round eye from rusting, any more than it already has. Take a close look at the body mounts & surrounding metal. also the entire frame. Don't just assume it's roadworthy. Looks like it might make a nice...

    topless sunburn!

I'm hip! $15.00 at the quarter wash, & you still need another $5.00 to clean the stall out.:( Cleaning out the frame rails is the worst, but also the thing that needs it most. Then there's the chore of checking the fluids for water intrusion, blah blah blah......

Need help with tfi upgrade and nutter bypass

If you have that wire, you shouldn't need a ballast resistor! I can't remember exactly, but there should be a lowered voltage (8 to 11 volts IIRC) at one of the coil terminals.( may be the (+) side) The answer can be found at jeepsunlimited.com You'll need to register to do a proper board...

Cool, we'll have to get the two clubs out on a wheel some day. My club is tough to get together though, everyone seems to have other obligations on a given date. My job has me working some weekends at the last minute, so it's tough for me too. My area is more to the South & west of Charlotte...

    Block problems.

Sometimes you can plug weld a nut to a flushed off bolt, then wrench it out. Jack the engine up a little with a floor jack & small square of plywood to prevent oil pan damage. You might be able to figure a way to chain the engine up off the mounts. pipe across the fenders, overhead rafter or...

    4wd???

Not sure if your jeep has the vacuum front axle disconnect, but if it does that might be the problem. When you go to 4WD low range, are you sure you have 4WD? The plastic multi-colored vacuum lines they use in this system are impervious to all known automotive fluids, with the one exception of...

    Homemade Rock Rack

Good job! Where did you attach it to? It seems that there's only two mounting points/tabs. Does the spare tire carry any of the weight? In other words what keeps it from tipping back?

There's a friend of mine who has a nice sized chunk of land. He holds events at his place about twice a year. He has a water/mud dragstrip, complete with 12 volt porta-tree. The competitions are fun & friendly. He usually posts up on NC4X4.com under wranglin101. the events are under 4leaf4X4. I...

    topless sunburn!

Yep! they fit a bit looser than contractor cleanup & lawn/leaf bags! Judging by your third sigpic, you are substantially more into mudding than me. I find it fun, but never like the big chore afterwards, of cleaning that stuff out of my heep.mooooh-(

    topless sunburn!

You can tighten the straps. They do pool rainwater like any soft top, but I have a Zuse bow prop to push the center up. I had to wait for eight months for the company to ship the first ones to 4wd hardware, so they could send it to me. That said, it does work well. If you live in a rainy...

Ceramic pads don't work well....... ......until they get warmed up, then you'd better have your seatbelt on!

Need help with tfi upgrade and nutter bypass

The resistance wire in question, is in place on all 87-90 YJ's It's highlighted in yellow on this diagram & lives inside the big harness loom going across the back firewall of the engine bay. It may or may not say "do not cut" on the insulation, but it should look different from the rest of the...

Which ignition module works best on a 4.2?

Try pulling & plugging the vacuum line to the EGR valve. Mine had a weird flat spot, that was driving me nuts only in fourth gear above 50mph. It works fine now, so I just left it plugged! Also your better off looking for a true Duraspark box at the junkyard, then that Wells junk.IMHO! MSD...

Now you've done it! I gotta have those stickers now!!! Pretty soon I'll have enough stickers to completely hide the fact that I'm driving a jeep! The newer style sport bar is known as the "family style".

    topless sunburn!

I got my Bestop traditional strapped bikini from JCWhitney IIRC. About $45.00 +ship. I had to get some footman loops from tractor supply.(Stainless & SS bolts & nylock-nuts) I mounted them above the fender on the rear wall of the tub. (above the tail lights too) This way the straps follow...

    winch

X2, I've used mine a few times without incident. The original ones were supposedly slow, but they aren't slow anymore. At least mine isn't. Mine came with a sticker that showed the clutch lever positions backwards. A quick E-mail to the company had them mailing me a corrected sticker...
