    Seat Risers

What kind of seats are they, and do they appear to be using stock brackets or aftermarket? Any idea?

    Seat Risers

I haven't specifically looked for CJ's, but I know I've seen special larger seat belts you can buy for overweight people; however they're intended for people who are seriously obese. I think the better solution in your case would be to lower the seats. Do you think it would be possible to modify...

    Jason4x4's 2006 TJ project

Now comes the time consuming part. You need to try and measure the distance from the stud on the ball joint to the end of the tie rod on the old tie rod so you can set the new tie rod ends up the same. This can be kind of time consuming, but try to make careful measurements and set the length of...

    Jason4x4's 2006 TJ project

Here are some comparison shots to show you the difference between the stock and Big Daddy tie rods, and also the bend in the stock tie rod.

    Jason4x4's 2006 TJ project

Now we need to move to the other end of the tie rod (where it attaches to the drag link). Pretty much the same procedure here: remove the cotter pin, use a 19mm socket and breaker bar or similar to break the nut loose and remove the nut. Here I was able to get a puller over the ball joint to pop...

    Jason4x4's 2006 TJ project

Next, you need to pop the tie rod off the steering knuckle. If you have a puller you can fit in there, now would be the time to use it. My puller wouldn't fit in the tight space between the wheel and the brake, so I used a pickle fork. Place it like so and give it a few hard whacks with a hammer...

    Jason4x4's 2006 TJ project

The next step is to remove the stock (in this case damaged) tie rod. To begin, start by removing the cotter pin from the bolt attaching the tie rod end to the driver's side steering knuckle. Then using either a wrench or a 19mm socket, remove the nut from the tie rod end.

    Jason4x4's 2006 TJ project

So in case you missed my other post I bent my tie rod rock crawling at Rausch Creek last weekend. I ordered a new tie rod from Big Daddy's Offroad that is bigger and supposedly 4x stronger than stock. Here's how the install went. I decided to go ahead and buy new tie rod ends for the new tie...

    Senior Jeep Tech Needed!!!!!

The rain is going to be something you would have to address. You could get one of those scoops that sticks on and covers up the vent and only costs $20 or so, but I would still personally be concerned about water getting into the engine. Water aside, my honest opinion is that this isn't really a...

Today was a special day (Tie Rod ?)

Finally got a picture of the bent tie rod (sorry, sprained my ankle Monday evening and I'm on crutches all week). New tie rod supposed to be here Friday. I'll post an install if I get things wrapped up this weekend.

    Jeep Monster Truck

Now wait a minute, if you pause the video at 0:10, there are way too many slots in the grill. Whats going on there? I guess they had to widen the body to make it fit on the frame.

What kind of gun do you have?

Nope, it's a pump action, I just got the number wrong. I just checked, it's an old Remington 760 pump action rifle, .270 (my father-in-law's brother has the same rifle in 30.06) from the early 1970s. This is not his rifle, but it's an example. It has really fancy carving in the wood all over...

What kind of gun do you have?

I do not own any guns myself since I don't have anywhere to safely keep them at the moment, but when I hunt I use a .270 Remington 770 (I think) pump action rifle that belongs to my father in law.

Today was a special day (Tie Rod ?)

I appreciate the responses guys. I ended up going with a tie rod from Big Daddy's Offroad that I found some really good reviews for. It's 1 1/4" like the others, advertised as 4x stronger than stock and uses the stock rod ends. It's just slightly more expensive than the RC unit ($85 vs. $79)...

Today was a special day (Tie Rod ?)

So today was a very special day for me. I pretzeled my first tie rod at Rausch Creek 8). I went up with Mount Zion Offroad again for their monthly ride and we did almost all black and blue-black trails. Specifically, if anyone is familiar with the park, we did Trail 22 in the morning (had an XJ...

    can't get stuck

Prior to my last trip to Rausch I had only gotten stuck once in my TJ. That was at my final run on the final trail on my final visit to Paragon before they closed. I had made it through all day and then on the way back to the parking lot we decided to try one little blue trail that was just kind...

Motor Mount Lift + Body Lift = can't shift into 4wd Low

I didn't have any issues when I installed the combo, although I ordered JKS motor mounts (came in a box labelled Currie, I guess they're the same?) and I have the 6-speed, not the auto transmission.

Should I install a motor mount lift to go with my body lift?

Like you said, if you don't do the motor mount lift you're going to have to cut up your fan shroud and could possible have other clearance issues. I'd say install the motor mount lift especially if you already have it. You may not technically *need* to do it, but you'll be glad you did. I'm very...

    hi lift jacks

Hi Lift is the only way to go when you're working on a Jeep. And they're very useful on the trail as well. If you use your Jeep enough a Hi-Lift will pay for itself over and over.
