It can be a bad fuel pump, filter, and I would lean to more of a vacuum leak. Was this onset of stuttering a sudden development or slowly appeared over time.

NO the 258 will not handle the 670 unless you jet it down to 450-470 cfm. for that you might as well purchase the correct one from the start.

Agreed, I would love to go TBI on mine, but the cost versus lack of funding don't match. I am very happy with my Holley.

If you cannot/don't want to do TBI, I would recommend the Holley.

It is a bad ground more than likely, possible sending unit issues. Even with a working gas gauge I still track miles on the odometer.

Not a carb specialist but those are the air/fuel mixture screws. One is for idle and one is for off idle (not sure of correct term). On my Holley they both went in all the way then back out 1 turn, I tweaked them from that point.
