    Yet another gadget.

There's only two buttons on it - one to reset the angle, and another to dim the brightness. You get what you get as far as the alarm angles. It does make a sound when you rotate too far - I can just hold it in my and and tilt it until the alarm sounds. It's what you'd expect for $29. Not...

    Yet another gadget.

I'm getting ready for my yearly off-road trip so I had to find some more gadgets to add to my Jeep. I found this inclinometer on Amazon and it actually seems pretty cool. I mounted it in my Jeep using a removable GoPro mount so I'm not going to keep it there all the time. So far so good. We'll...

Thoughts on Moab 392 vs Willy 392?

It looks like the Willys is going to be a cheaper version ($71,990) than the Moab ($82,585). It appears that you won't be able to order the Willys until March, and that may mean you have a few months to wait for delivery. I wasn't able to find a good a good comparison between the Willys and...

Greetings from new member in the UK with temp sensor question

I order most of my stuff from RockAuto as well. How expensive is it to have parts shipped to Spain? I usually spend $15 or so to have it shipped inside the US.

Is this pinion as bad as I think it is?

I finally got it all wrapped up! I am by no means good at this, but I ended up taking the carrier / pinion out at least 25 times - one one Saturday I had the whole thing apart and together at least seven times. I believe my core problem was that the pinion bearing became worn. This allowed...

    TFI ignition upgrade

That's awesome - I'm glad to hear that this mod is still alive and kicking. I remember when I did it to my CJ7 - it made a huge improvement, I imagine the other ignition improvements would really help.

Is this pinion as bad as I think it is?

I'll agree that 23 looked good, but only on the coast side. From what I read, I should focus on the drive side primarily. I think I'm on the right track now. This time around I kept the 0.030 pinion, but went back to the factory carrier shims. These are way too loose and my backlash was only...

Is this pinion as bad as I think it is?

Pinion shims of 0.030 This gave me zero backlash which will have to be fixed, but I think the patterns look better overall. Coast side And drive side Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk

Is this pinion as bad as I think it is?

Pinion shim of 0.023 (this was the factory shim) This much of a change ended up changing my backlash to about 0.05, and it should be between 8 and 12. I ran the patterns anyway just to see what they look like Drive side And Coast side Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk

Evaluating the frame rust on this 2006 Silverado w pics

Looks like there was a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation because those Silverado brake lines rust so bad that they would fail https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/inv/2011/INCR-EA11001-50409.pdf Not sure a picture of brake lines would do any good, but its something to think...

Is this pinion as bad as I think it is?

I'm still plugging away at this. Definitely learning a lot from this process. I think I've got the carrier shims dialed in and I'm clocking about 9 thousands of backlash which is good. I went ahead and made set up bearings which entails hollowing out the same brand Pinion bearing that I will...

Evaluating the frame rust on this 2006 Silverado w pics

Looks OK to me, assuming you're getting a good deal. If I bought it I would immediately treat with something - fluid film will help it for a season. Do inside the frame rails and outside.
