06 TJ lift kit

I plan to lift my TJ in the next couple of months and I was looking for some advice on what type of lift to get. Should I get a short arm or long arm lift? I plan to use it for trail riding/ rock climbing now however, I will back on the east coast getting in the mud in about 2 yrs.

Spend the extra $$$ and get the long arm! I have a short arm and I almost hate it. Trails great, but way to twitchy on the road.

Hey Rob
Any long arm kit will give you a better ride on, and off road. The simpler ones that use a 4 link (2 upper and 2 lower control arms) will give you that better than factory ride lifted. But you will loose some extreme flexibility as with some that triangulate the axle so you don't have to run a pan hard bar.
Each kit has its pros, and cons. As with people here each one has manufacture of choice and hater's of other MFG's.

Your best bet is to find a local jeep club and see what lifts they are running and do a ride in their rigs. Personally I am a Tera-flex fan with their simple long arm kit, because my ride is still my daily driver and I have never found another lifted jeep that rides smoother (going to start an argument with that statement).

I have Fera-flex's basic 4 inch lift kit. But that is all they offered back in 01. I have since replaced the uppers with adjustable control arms. I went through several front track bars of theirs, and two from other MFG'S . Till I found R.E. heim joint front track bar. I loved their shocks for the four inch lift till I put on Bilsteins 5150's.
After 11 years of torture the coils started sagging so I went with Sky Jackers because theirs are a higher coil count and I got them in 4.5 lift.
If I had to start over I would go with the very same lift kit because of the ride quality on and off road.

I have rode in their LCG lifted jeep. Off road it was an articulating power house, driving it to the trail sucked, but then it wasn't my jeep and it had a full time locker in the rear(I am use to open ARB's ).
