07 JK Rubi locker problem

Lately my rear locker hasn't been locking, so after checking a few things like relays, plugs, etc...I pulled the diff cover and found a broken wire. I don't know what this piece where the wire goes is called. Can anybody tell me what it is, and if the harness or sensor, whatever it is, is replaceable without replacing the whole carrier or something crazy like that?

do you push a button to lock the diff? if so I'd say that the wire in question controls that and is shorting out on something and that's why you keep randomly locking up. I may be completely wrong though.

Actually, the problem is that it WON'T lock. And yeah, it's electronic, and I'm sure that wire's the suspect, I just don't know if it's part of the whole carrier, or if it's replaceable.

my bad. I misread the post. silly iPhone reading. worst case scenario put a shrink wrap over one end and solder the wires together for a temp fix. then wrap the shrink wrap. at least at that point you can determine if the wire is the problem

That seems like a good idea. It looks like the wire was cut u can c a little bit of the blue wire sticking out

Well, I finally got the "Actuator Bracket" (as Mopar calls it, but it's just the anti rotation tab) in Thursday evening, and got out there and went to work Friday. First, I cleaned the area around the wiring with brake cleaner, and then I got to inspecting it a bit. The larger square piece that the wires attach to is hard plastic or some material, but if you get closer to where they actually exit the location, there is about a half inch thick piece if rubber that they run through. I figured what the hell, it's already screwed if I can't fix it, so I took a razor blade, and started on the edge of the rubber to make sure it was solid, which it was, so I moved closer and closer to the wires, trimming away the rubber, until I had it cut off flush with the hard plastic piece, and had a good half inch of wire showing. It turned out that both wires were broke, but one was hanging by the insulation, so I proceeded to strip & solder them back, shrunk the heat shrink wrap on them separately, and then took some black RTV (that I made the cover gasket from) and put all around the repair, to "replace" the rubber I cut out, just to make sure it sealed back up, and put it all back together, and it works great! I have an electric locker once again.
