I'm assuming that the 25-30 is when it's been warmed up? in my opinion that's a safe range to be in but I'm not sure what the specs say for that engine.
Yes after warm up...when it is warming up it stays around 35-40 then drops to 25 to 30 +/_ I have not been able to find any specs that say an average range, I have had a couple mechanics tell me there isnt really an exact number and each motor might be slightly different in the pressure range. I have the IL6cyl.
the mechanics are right from what I've been told. ive run motors at as low as 20 psi before without any real trouble. as long as it doesn't drop below what it normally runs at you should be fine.
Chrysler specs for the 4.0, 5.2, 5.9. Are min 6psi at idle. Which is plenty as volume is almost more important than pressure. After 4 psi that's when bearings are a loss and no oil can get to the top end.
Thanks for the info...Thats why this forum is so great, to be able to ask questions and get answers from people that have "been there done that" its very helpful!!! Thanks again guy's
My factory gauge on my 97 2.5l runs about the same as you posted. All though I didnt trust it and installed an after market gauge. The after market actually reads real pressure which shows me around 60 at 2500 rpm and around 20 at idle with a warmed up engine.
So the gauges that come in the 98 TJ's dont work or just are not very accurate? what after market gauge did you buy and about how much $ and trouble is it...I'm sure its worth it no matter the cost to have the correct oil pressure reading.
