2005 Wrangler With different year headlight and grill assembly

I am new to this forum, and what a good time to have joined when I am so confused about this jeep
I purchased this 05 Jeep Wrangler, she had a grill a little mashed up so I found one on EBay for my TJ, I looked at all the views ( well all but the most important one) sanded painted and put it in and the only thing I had to do was SHUT THE HOOD!!!!, but the top of the replaced grill/ headlight assembly was different, it did not have an opening the safety latch sat in, it actually had the h on the assembly vs the hood, I am at a loss for words, I guess I could purchase a hood to fit this assembly but I do not know what year it is, I went on to jeeps parts list and did not see any difference in years but I know there is, can someone please help me with the year hood I need to purchase or a fix that I can to to help close this rig

I’ve looked at this and don’t know what to say. Is this a YJ or JK grill i don’t know from what could be seen. Could you post a pic of the grill from the front?

Could a modification to the grill make it work? Or is there an easy bolt on solution?? Need to know what parts you have.

Looks like the earlier tj style latch. I haven't looked enough to know when they switched latch styles and locations (from grille to hood). My '97 tj is the same as the grille you installed. I know Jeep refreshed the interior in 03 so maybe try a good from a 97-02

Nit sure if there us an easy mod.

I have been told that it’s from the series before the tj, the only year for the round lights( this is the same joker who sold me the set up off of eBay so I do not believe him.

Eric, you are correct, and since I needed a hood because the original had a crease and crushed end I ordered one from a 97, it had the style latch as the one I purchased off of eBay , thanks
