33's and axle size

I heard from a questionable source that running 33's with a stock axle is risky. Anyone doing this?

I plan on getting a dana 44 but don't want to plunk the money down on that before I get my 33's.

you should be fine as long as you're not going really hardcore. i saw a YJ website awhile back that had a YJ w. 35's on stock axles and itd been that way for 2 years before he went d44's. so yes it can be done, but def buy the d44 eventually

They will handle up to a 35" tire with moderate wheelin, so you'll be fine. If you wheel hard and push your Jeep, you will quickly find the limits of the D35 rear.[addsig]
