As anyone installed a 4.88 with 33" tires in a JK? I've been td I would see better acceleration, low end power plus the increased rpm's would allow it to run in 4th without stoping to 3rd on average hills. I was even told I would get a little better mpg. This is all coming from a Tera-flex rep who is supposed to be an expert on these things. I would just like to hear from someone who actually had made these mods.

Well if you have the six speed the higher you can go the better. They really lug these things. We do lots of 4.56 swaps on them at my shop. Helps out big time with the power. Not sure about mileage though.

if you actually plan on wheeling, go as deep in your gearing as you can which for a JK with 30/44 combo I think is 5.38, I know older D30 will fit this gear set, don't know enough about JK D30's.

But for daily driving, that is not an ideal gear ratio, rather you will want to match you tire size to you gearing and RPM's, slightly deeper than stock will net better acceleration, but fuel milage will suffer for 2 main reasons.

1. you will be at higher RPM's on the highway
2. because you have better acceleration, you most likely be in the throttle more, just happens that way.
