92 - Transfer case vent tube - where does it go?

I have just purchased a 1992 Cherokee Laredo, and noticed a hose dangling under the car; it is attached to the transfer case, up top, drivers side, front. Haines seems to think its a vent tube.

Anyway: where does the other end go?

Typically, they go up along the firewall and attach so that the end is just higher than or even with the intake, so as to keep water out when doing deep water crossings.

You should check the condition of the fluid. (just to be safe)
