Consumer Reports tested batteries a couple years ago. In most sizes the Duralast Gold (Auto Zone) and Maxx Start or whatever the top line battery is called at Wal-Mart rated highly, as well as the top shelf batteries at NAPA and from AC.

I had always bought Die-Hards but they came in at the bottom of the heap.

Yeah duralast is what I had. I know those new optima batteries get mixed reviews, so I wanted to know what other people had.

Take your old battery with you. They keep a shopping cart for them at the service desk and give you $9 for it after you buy the new one. At least that's how it works at the Wally-Mart here.

I like Continental Batteries. I just bought one for my F-150 for $88.00

Sound like I sell them but I don't.... I have just always had good luck with them.

After what I have seen the Optima's endure, I'll stick with them... I had a friend's alternator go out on him during the first day of a 2 day wheeling run, and he almost made it out on the second day (granted, he did not use his winch and he ran the night part with his lights out, but still!). I have also seen (rather consistently) Optima's last well over 6 years (12 in one case), and I have seen them completely drained and brought back to life again. Just the kind of qualities I look for on my batteries...

Yeah I brought mine to walmart and got 5 bucks for the old one. Jeep runs better now!

trojan batteries are the best golf cart batteries. when i was a golf cart mechanic, i used to find trojan batteries all the time with 7 and 8 years past since the date code. those are damn good batteries
