Body kit help

The po installed a body kit on my YJ and I forund I have a bolt and rubber spacer missing from one of my mounts. I've never delt with installing a body kit before and may have an OOPS on my hands. It looks like they installed the body kit onto the stock body bushings (Is this correct/ common?). 2nd If everything is ok with this set up where can I find a replacement bushing? Or 3rd Should I buy a kit that will replace all the bushings given the stock rubber are starting to show wear?

I think the 1" or so body lifts go on top of the originals. If the originals are starting to crack and look worn, I would probably replace them all if I had the money. They are not too hard to do.

Thanks so I should look for a 2 inch kit and be done with the stock bushings. Will a 2" kit lith the body far off the frame and look really hoaky?

I got a 2” on mine I think it looks fine. A three inch it too much and look awful.

Sweet cant wait to get my Jeep back on the road. During this current priject my ADD has run ramped and my old lady is starting to get mad about the Jeep sitting in the yard.

Installing the spacer on top of the stock bushing is the correct way. The body spacers you install are a hard plastic, while the factory mounts are rubber and absorb shock. If you just had hard plastic you'd feel alot more vibration / shock. You can see my body lift write-up here:

I'd stick with what you have, and just make a new spacer (a hockey puck may work), and buy a bold from the local hardware store. I wouldn't worry too much about the cracked mounts, my 2005 has them as well. Just keep a eye on them and replace them when they fall apart.

I would go back and check the torque on all your existing body mounts.

Thanks Terry, I just ordered an entire replacement rubbber bushing kit. I will salvage the good used ones and add them to my pile of stuff to keep just incase.
