my 99 xj was broken into. they busted the rear passenger window that doesn't roll up or down. that really small window. stole a pc, radar, clothes, etc. they threw a cigarette inside or dropped it, but either way, it set the rear seat on fire, which caused a black sut to sit on all my plastic parts in the car. it was pretty hard to clean but i got most of it off. the headliner is shot. i need a new trim panel for the rear passenger door because it's melted. i need a new leather back to my front passenger seat from the heat burning the leather, and i also need a new back seat (just the bottom)


is it possible for me to do the headliner myself? has anyone ever done this? is it worth it?


i got some price quotes for repair and im looking at about 400-500 for upholdstry repair. then i have to find the door panel. my inside is a tan color, the door panel and dash and all other plastic is the tan/black scheme.

Unless you are a pro, it's a b**** to do that stuff, with any sort of competency. And it takes forever. After your time, supplies, effort, and pain as well as frustration, you'll wish you dropped the 4-5 hundy on the pro.

Chances are, if you do it yourself, you'll not be satisfied with the job.
