Well hope this makse sense- I have a 1967 IH Scout 800-- but my side tanks rusted out and I am going to put a 15gal steel CJ tank in the back- ANYWAY I see the 2 vent hoses that go to a charcoal canister - since this is a smog exempt vehicle can I run them vents to like a fuel filter than to the back or can I plug one vent and run the other to a air filter then to the back? Thanks in advance

I dont know if I would run it to a air filter. I got rid of my charcoal canister on a 77 and 78 cj with a 304, I just pluged the canister vents and ran a return on the fuel pump. Never had any issues. I cant remember if the return was off the pump or fuel filter. hope this helped some

I'm not sure HOW to run a return line- any ideas? maybe a "T" before or after the fuel filter?

The tee goes before the fuel filter. The question I have is does your sending unit/pickup have a single hose barb or a double barb? If it has two barbs in the center, one is a supply(connected to the foot valve/strainer) and the other is the return. If installed properly, a CJ tank is vented at the filler bulkhead. The fuel filler is a 1.25" and the vent is the smaller 1" connection next to it that ties in at the fuel fill bezel. The other emissions vents can be capped or run one to a high spot as a vent. I usually run one of then to the fuel vent/overflow on the carb when installing a Webber carb.

A lot of fuel filters have two outlets, one is supply to the carb the other is return. Really shouldn't have to cut and T Into anything. PoliceMonkey is correct that the tank Is vented at the filler (where the gas hose gos when you get gas) their is a large fill hose and a smaller vent hose. I think if you just cap your charcoal hoses you will be fine. the charcoal canister was more for emissions than a vent, and the tank is vented at the filler
