I would like to do a half cab in my 86 CJ-7 and I am doing a YJ tub swap. Would anyone please help me with some information and or help with this idea? I know that I will have to move the roll bar back and make a bulk head for it, hints tips ideas? I am also streching it 10in and the frame 5in (and moving the axle back 5in too). Could a guy cut down and re-glass a full hard top to make a half cab? Thanks for your time I look forward to reading some of your posts.

Years ago I did something similar to my brothers cj7...I didn't lengthin the body or frame but I did a half cab conversion on it. I used a cj8 hardtop I found at a junkyard and made a fixed bulkhead. I lucked into the top for $25 but even then they were going for over $500 online...
as mentioned, CJ8 stuff will work.
Ditch your roll bars all together, source a CJ 8 1/2 cab hard top. you can buy a re-pop bulkhead. everything will bolt into the YJ tub, you will need to drill a couple holes, but dimentionally everything fits. as for the roll cage, either build a new one, or use a original CJ8 roll bar. the effort in modding the originaly one is simply not worth it.

all hard tops for the CJ7, CJ8 and any wrangler are all fiberglass. TJ tops are specific to TJ's and JK's are specific to JK's, CJ's and YJ's are interchanageble except the CJ 8 full cab top, it is simply too long to fit a CJ7 or YJ
