cleaning soft top

Probably water with a little dish soap and a soft bristle brush

Depends upon the nature of the mud, some stains more than others. All I’ve ever done is to use soap, water, and a scrub brush. Just make sure you have as much grit sprayed off of the top windows as possible before you wipe them down, and no brushes, just a soft clean cloth.

I will try that. I got it pretty cleaned only a few spots on the top. Here it was before the 2 hour cleaning process

I hated cleaning her. But as soon as I heard mud can stain the top and seeing that the top is only a few weeks old. But I got majority of the stains off. There's just some residue on the windows

Be careful using a brush on the clear windows of your soft top. I destroyed my factory soft top by using the brush at a u-wash style car wash place. It left hundreds of scratches in my windows.

Nice job!

I use lots of water as a pre rinse to get all visible mud off. No high pressure.
Super soapy water just splashed on with a soft cloth and no rubbing.
Rinse well
Super soapy light rubbing to spread soap and loosen dirt.
Rinse
Super soapy and rinse for any oily spots.

Have my jeep 6 years now with stock windows. The only scratches are from branches. Sure they are starting to smoke a bit but not all scratched up. Of course I don't get it that muddy anymore.

looks like clay !! after you get the gritty stuff off use lemon pledge on it to get the shine back. it will sluff off mud better next run too :)

Just regular soup?

Campbell's - they are clean enough to eat off of them.:p

I use car soap.

You mean Jeep soap.Car soap is for cars and mall crawlers. Dirty jeeps require better.:D

Couldn't pass up the oppertunity.

I just use dish washing liquid. I fill a bucket with soap and hot water. Apply a bit of soap to the towel and apply as mentioned above.

I want to apologize to the brethren for using the word “car” on a Jeep board. I am deeply ashamed to have humiliated myself in such a way. Please know I have ordered a penance of no less than 8 hours drive time and/or wrench time in and/or on my jeep to make amends. This sentence is to be carried out within the next five days. Should I fail in my quest I pledge to double the penance.

I was doing a soft top search (I have a frame prob) and came across this thread. Gotta put my 2 cents in.
IMO if you want the top to last for years, I suggest you use cleaners and protectants designed for the top material. It's not canvas. I also oil the zippers routinely. It's an '06 unlimited and it's shiny, waterproof, and as tight as a virgin. ;-)
Some may say I'm over doing it, but I'm not messing when it comes to protecting. If you use dish soap to clean, at least use a protectant to stop damage from the elements.

I always use baby shampoo. It is gentler than most chemical soaps out here and since I live in Florida, it is the best stuff to remove the "love bugs"... I buy store brand baby shampoo from who ever has it on sale.

I mean that it's not all flappy and saggy, silly. Not that it's had a facelift like Joan Rivers. Usually (until today) it raises simply, is taught, and zips with no effort.

watch out with super clean though. if you don;t wear some kind of rubber or nitrile glove to keep it off your skin, it will break down your skin's oils and over time you won;t be able to touch certain things anymore because your skin won;t have its oils anymore.

i used to use super clean daily when i was a golf cart mechanic. now i cannot touch shrimp when i go fishing or the skin on my fingers gets really irritated and after a day starts flaking off.
