Clicking in the cab when gas pedal is pushed

Hey Jeeperz, I've got a 2002 TJ (auto trans) and recently when I push the gas pedal there's a very pronounced clicking in the cab to the left of the steering column. At first, I thought it was the power locks freaking out but now after hearing it for a couple days I've realized it's coming from the left side of the dash... Any ideas?

I've been looking at other posts involving clicking but the location lends to me thinking this doesn't involve u joints.

Does it do it in neutral?

If it does rev the engine and start looking for the click.Could be a bad relay in the fuse block.

No clicking in reverse or neutral when revved. In fact, this morning I noticed if I turn and accelerate it doesn't click.

It only clicks when I push the gas pedal (from a stopped position) headed straight.

Wheel bearings? I had a strange knock once in a Mustang that sounded like it was coming from the clutch, but ended up coming from the passenger wheel bearing. What kind of click is it? Does it sound like click or pop from a circuit board or something else?

check the plastic clip on top of your pedal that holds cable in place it could have busted causing play in cable causing popping sound

my guess... u-joint, weather it is a drive or axle shaft, It could sound like it was coming from under the dash if it was the joint at the t-case.

This is crazy but I got under her this weekend and checked all the joints and bearings... She was good to go.

So I got under her dash and started taking off the left side. Recently, I noticed the LED light flashing about the same time the clicking so I became suspicious of an aftermarket alarm. I bought it used and didnt even know I had an alarm until now because apparently the dealer had pulled the fuse (who puts an alarm in a stock Jeep?). So I found the alarm and of course ripped it out. I noticed some cables also zipped into the roll bars so of course I tore them out too (perimeter alarm/sensor).

Drove her around some more and the clicking is gone... Crazy
