I have had a few people tell me I can adjust the mechanical cluth on my 80 CJ5 but no one has been able to tell me how. The clutch engages at the very top of the pedal but does not slip or have a problem shifting.
Does anyone have diagrams or instructions on adjusting a mechanical clutch? Thanks

I havent seen a jeeps adjustment, but on other vechicles, on your transmission there should be an arm that sticks out from it. Attached to that arm you should see a threaded rod ,adjusting the distance on that threaded rod is the adjustment, when you get down there and look at it for a minute ,It'll make sense to ya.

From my '78 TSM;

(1) Lift pedal upward and against pedal stop.
(2) Raise vehicle
(4) Loosen release rod adjuster jamnut. ((note: 3 omitted at it pertains to Cherokee and truck models))
(5) Turn release rod adjuster in or out to obtain specified clutch pedal free play. (1-1 1/4 inches)
(6) Tighten release rod jamnut
(7) Lower vehicle
