i have a 99 cherokee with the stock 2.5 4cy but i want more power but i dont know what will fit....or if strokin it will be cheaper...

Go with an I6 4.0. You might want to check the junkyard for a donor. I think that will be the cheapest option on a swap.

No known stroker options for the 2.5L that I'm aware of.

IMO the 2.5 to 4.0 swap is a waste of time and money, better off selling your jeep and buying one with a 4.0 if that's what you want. Otherwise swap in a worthwhile engine.
