Cross Drilled or Slotted

I am asking for overall performance or longevity or either. I know they make some with Both but they are expensive. I am looking for which one seems to work better. My brakes heat up way too quickly. I know it isn't a sports car but wow... What do you all think?

go with the slotted. the drilled will fill up with dirt and do you no good

Hi,

When I was upgrading the front brakes on my cherokee, I also had to decide between slotted, drilled, or slotted/drilled rotors. I was looking to make my front brakes more effective, as my Cherokee weighs over 1000 lbs. more than stock, and the rotors and pads would get very hot. After doing some research, I learned that drilled rotors were designed for racing, so they help you stop better but they don't help with the heat problem much as there is less surface-area on them to interact with the pads. I was told if I was choosing between the drilled or slotted rotors, the slotted rotors would perform best in an application where they are used for longer periods of time on a heavier vehicle (i.e. a typical road-driven Jeep).

So I ended up with slotted rotors and they've been working fine. (though, they still get quite hot as my #@$!!^ rear drum brakes aren't working much.
