RE: yj hardtop

well i've had a few other posts over the last couple months about my ongoing death wobble problems. here's the deal... i've replaced almost everything i can think of that would be a possible cause of the problem:

- heavy-duty BDS lower control arms
- adjustable BDS tracbar
- new upper control arms
- all new balljoints
- all new bushings
- old man emu steering stabilizer
- front end alignment

so far, nothing has helped even the slightest bit. its been in 3 different shops so far: a jeep dealership, a 4x4 specialty shop, and a front-end shop... nobody can figure it out. the latest suggestion by one of the places is tires... they said my sidewalls may have broken down or something like that. if anybody can give me some advice i'd really appreciate it... this has been going on since february and i'm going back to school without my jeep, so that really sucks. any input will be appreciated!

I believe I've read quite a few posts here about tires helping tremendously. I'm assuming you've had them rebalanced, but, depending on the tire, that may not help. That's a lot of mass spinning at high rpms......wouldn't take much of a glitch to send things out of kilter. Worth a shot, I guess, 'tho not real cheap. The bright side is........if that solves the problem, you're good to go suspension/tire-wise for a long time! Hope you figure it out.

Looks like you've covered most bases already - I would jack up each corner individually, spin the tire and watch for excessive run-out on 1)the inside sidewall 2)the outside sidewall 3)the tread itself. Broken internal belts of the tire could cause your problem. You can also check the rim integrity, wheel bearing tightness and front end tightness as well with each corner jacked up individually. LOL (lots of luck) LBR

Re: RE: Re: RE: Short in Cig Lighter socket?

I run the same parts you do. sounds like you have a tire issue. make sure that your control arms are tightened. mine was loose and got wobble like hell.

RE: Hood Vents?

thanks for the input so far. i'll probably end up changing out the tires... fortunately, i need new ones anyways. my BFG a/t's have almost 40k miles on them... so they've done well. i have to decide if i want to get a set for the wheels i have now, or go ahead and jump for the new wheels i want (which are 16's instead of 15's) and get tires to fit them. i wanted to wait a few months to do that since the wheels are expensive, but if i'm gonna have to buy tires now, i guess i might as well get what i want. thanks again for the help... and i'm open to any more suggestions!

well apparently my problem is NOT tires. we found somebody that would let us try out a new set of tires and rims just to see if that fixed the problem... and it didn't. i'm really getting frustrated and am out of ideas. anybody want to buy an awesome jeep (except for the death wobble part)? just kidding... not quite to that point yet. the absolute last part i (or anybody else) can think to replace is the steering box. good idea/bad idea???
