I have a 87 wrangler 2.5 EFI. Some times it idles up and down some time smooth as could be. The main problem is when I drove it sometime the dies way off not off but way down it will usually pick right back up after acouple seconds. If you feather the gas pedal you can hear the engine sound change but now power behind it. And it happens at angles up and down. It will do it with a full tank of gas so I know I was not running out of fuel. I have to done any tests on anything just need some help going in the right direction.

i would check sensors. get a manual and a multimeter and check all your engine sensors so you know they are good

Check fuel pressure aswell. Maybe idle air control valve?
