Engine swap and transmission ID

Hey all, I am having trouble identifying my transmission. I have a 1981 CJ7 with 258 6 banger with an automatic transmission. My question is, I want to put an AMC360 in there, does anyone foresee any problems with the install as far as lining up with the current trans? I know I have to change out the motor mounts. Anyone see any problems as far as too much power on the current drivetrain? Let me know what you think. I am looking for any problems that may arise in the middle of this. I can't have my baby out of commission for too long as its my only means of transportation. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Bryan

if its the stock 3 speed then you should have a tf999,

but, these are the options showing up in a search

do you have the quadratrac system or a normal transcase? a t400 can be identified easily by any chevy guy and i can gt a pic of a tf999 for you because i have that on my wrangler

depends on the 360. Some AMC 360's were so under powered that the trans (and you) probably won't even know there was a motor swap. if you start to remove the emissions crap, better breathing intake and carbs, a cam and some head work... then you are pretty much at the useable end of that trans in stock configuration. the TF727 is also a good choice to back up a 360, unlike the TF999, was also found in some of the big block cars, so it can handle some power.
