engine time

engine was spewing oil from the exhaust and air intake and all sorts of places. It wont go past 45 on the high way without trying to loose power. it backfires and smokes up the whole highway and then dies. There is a ticking noise inside the engine. I have decided that I am going to open up that damn engine and go in for the kill. If i can't fix it, I will just put in a used 2.5 in. Don't have the money or time to try to move up to 4.0 and start messing with other parts just yet. Worst luck. Diagnostic is reading idle air control motor circuits.

i just want another engine swapped in... i dont want to mess with rebuilding this one. It'll be cheaper to just swap

Ya. I can't speak for a price. I can get used engines for around 500 bucks from a wrecker up here. Or pick n pull for 50 bucks.

how many miles is that ol 2.5 rockin? just so I have an idea on my ticking bomb. 162000.. and what oil have you been using?

believe it or not it had just hit 150,000. so idk. im assuming the previous owners treated it like shit. I was under the assumption i would have plenty of time left with her, but here i am searching for another one now.

that 2.5 is a long life motor so something happened to yours. these older jeep motors aren;t like the new dodge motors (the v6 minivan motors) that only last to 100k or 150k, these old motors usually last longer then the jeep does
