Exhaust pipe making contact - DIY fix?

I did a belly up skid plate, and lifted my exhaust up some (about 2 - 3 inches). Now my exhaust hits the rear shock and my rear track bar. Is it possible / easy to cut the exhaust and put in a small downward bend just after the muffler, clamping it all together with muffler clamps, or is this something that is best left to a muffler shop?

I did some youtube searching for bending exhaust, and it looks like I could get it glowing hot, then bend it - not something that I'm keen on doing.

I cut my exhaust about 15" from the back of the muffler and added an downward bent tip to it. I had a muffler shop weld a muffler hanger for support. I see that more and more now.

here in texas, the exhaust has to exit the underside of the vehicle behind the rear most opening to the cabin so i would check the laws in Va to make sure its not the same. that would put a stop to cutting and dumping it underneath.

but as far as fixing the exhaust, you can cut it and clamp it anyway you want. i used to cut and reweld mine all the time on my bmws and will do the jeep once i swap motors since i will have to run dual exhaust out the back
