I just read Terrys post on the Ford 8.8 Rotors and I have read several other posts about the rearends.
What is the advantage of a Ford 8.8, and what vehicle are they normally found on?

It's a bit stonger than what came stock and the right years have disc brakes. The only ones you want come from explorers. The ranger version has 28 spline shafts vs the stronger 31 spline explorer version. I think 95 or 96 is when they went to disc brakes. Most swap them in because of the increase in strength, fact that there are tons of them in the jy for cheap, almost the same width as stock just a little narrower and have the same bolt pattern. I personally don't care for them and wouldn't swap a c-clip axle for another one but lots of folks swear by them.

It's an easy replacement for the D35 if you have some fabrication skills. About the same width. I think about 1 1/2 inch narrower. Not noticeable unless you measure it. Uses the same wheel bolt pattern as the D35. Has disc brakes. A big improvement over the drum brakes. Larger ring gear and axles. Beefier axle tubes. As far as the C clips. I haven't seen a problem with them and have seen more AMC 20 and other non C clip axles sticking out of axle housings than C clip axles. Unless your going to be running larger than 35 inch tires, I think it's a good swap.
