Front disc brake caliper question

I think I have re-installed the calipers upside down. The bleeder screw is on the top now. The brake hose is too short now when it wasn't before I took them off.

I didn't think it was possible you can install a caliper upside down.. Wrong side would be possible which would also change the orientation of the bleeder and the hose fitting location.

Could be wrong side. I know the 2-bolt bracket is on right. Each caliper has a letter stamped into it L or R. I assumed this meant right and left; of course left is on driver side and right on passenger. Tried to post a pic but it won't take it for some reason.

One more rule of thumb, if the bleeder is on top, then i would assume that's the correct way along with the right or left markings on the caliper. Did you replace the calipers with new one's? . If you did, check the old one's and compare it to the new one and see if there is a difference in design. The brake hose where the banjo bolt attaches to the caliper can get flipped and cause it to be shorter, just a thought.

Next question, would it matter if they are on the wrong side? Just to change the orientation of the bleeder screw and hose connection? And no new calipers, just cleaned and painted. New pistons and seals but no new calipers.

If they are on the wrong side you'd have a hard time bleeding them. Bleeder screw should be on top otherwise you couldn't get all the air out. Sounds like you put the hoses on wrong.
