Are you talking about that strap that runs over the top of the tank? Don't know if it's the same thing, but I broke mine on my CJ when I dropped the tank to drill some holes in the bed for a new seat. It will probably be fine without it. All it does is hold the tank more securely to the skid I believe. For safety's sake, I just got one of those ratchet rope thingys and bolted that in there. I then upgraded to some of that metal strap that comes in those little coils with holes already in it for bolts. All ya gotta do is find one thats nice and wide then bolt it in there.
