And that means something happened to the jeep.

To start with, I finally tore that fuel injected 99 grand cherokee 4.0 down. They blew the head gasket from overheating it and drove till it quit. Water in two cylinders but no visible cracks in the head. I am going to get it cleaned and inspected some time and then get someone to make an adapter to put my carb on till I collect the last parts for the fuel injection.

I removed the steps and also cleaned and treated the small bits of rust forming in the foot wells. My steps were held on with 7/16 nuts on the four for the step and nut insertd for all the rest. Is that how everyone elses were held on? Anyway, did all that and found out when they painted they did a cheapo maaco job because when I took the steps off, the area was still maroon. I like it better bare on the sides but will have to get some type of guards because the nut serts are not going to come out happily and will probably make bigger holes.

While under the jeep I found out I need motor mounts, trans mounts, all suspension bushings, and probably body mounts replaced too. Since I am doing that, I might as well get replacement springs that are a bit taller also.

I know how that goes... At least you got something accomplished... I, on the other hand, had planned to spend the weekend Working on my steering issues... No such luck... Parts that were scheduled to arrive Friday didn't ....
Had hoped to be back on the road by today... I was really sad too bcuz today is the first day in a while that the temperature has been less than 100 (well at least it was at 10 am;-) )

So do you have any particular spring size/height in mind?

oh man, the temp was 71 this morning when i left for work. so nice.

i was thinking a 1" or 2" spring lift. not to high because the wife is already complaining about the steps being taken off

Compromise is good... Go 2.5" and put some type of steps back on;-)
But what do I know ...look at how "practical" my jeep is.... Haha
First thing people always ask is "how do you get in that thing? Gotta ladder in there?"
