Grand Cherokee help!

Hey guys, I just got a 2000 Grand Cherokee and I love it, in great shape but there is one problem I'm having trouble with. The vents on the passenger side seem to not be connected to the blower. When I turn on the AC it works on the drivers side, but nothing but engine heat slowly coming out of the passenger side vents.

I could feel cold air coming out of the cracks in the dashboard and in the cracks beside and behind the glovebox. So I took out the glovebox and whoever had the truck before me had half assed duck taped a vent on the left side right behind the glove box.

I've looked at a few videos where I could see the guy working behind the glovebox and can see there is some kind of black box covering the vent. Which mine does not have.

I'm thinking that box would be what connects that vent to the actual 2 vents on the passenger side. Does anyone know what that part is called or have another solution? Thanks.

Dang, I can't remember what that's called. Its super common for that to quit working though
