I was lookin at my headers while i was swapping out the old 350 in exchange for the waranty one and i want to try to paint them somehow, i've heard that if you sand them and coat them with bar-b-que paint that is tempered up till 1200 degrees it wont crack and turn white like my headers did after about ohh the first 100 or so miles...has anybody tried this? any tips?

Yeah, my friend did that with his headers on his small 350 in his Nova. They still look brand new after two years, I'd say go for it. Romp.[addsig]

I´ve used the bar-B-que paint before, not bad, but required some touch up from time to time (a lot to do with prep and sanding). The only real luck, I´ve ever had with a durable coating for headers was, sandblasting and aluminum coating. I´ve never tried it, but if you can find a chroming place, have them chromed and say, you want them raw (not polished) ought to be half the price (or less). It will be, a pretty dull finish, but usually the object is, to just keep them from rusting.[addsig]
