8-) I you have a choice pick the 4.0. You won't have to worry about any sort of carb problems. Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, all the 4.2's were prior to 91 and some states have laws about putting older engines into newer vehicles. Good luck with the swap! [addsig]

and the 4.0 has more power... and is newer... and is fuel injected.............[addsig]

Man, why ruin a nice 4banger YJ, just gear that puppy low and keep on wheelin with the gas guzzlin high hp big dogs

Save yourself a LOT of time and $$ and just sell/buy/trade for a 4.0L Jeep, much easier and less of a headache. If you're bent on an engine swap, don't waste the time with a 4.0L that comes in thousands of other jeeps, do a v8 swap or a powerful v6 like the GM Vortec V6 that can easily put out v8 HP. Be original if you're going to do it.[addsig]

In Massachusetts it is extremely illegal to put a older engin into a newer vehicle. Trust me you do not want this hassel. unless you can register the vehicle in vermont, don't bother. you will never get a sticker. Plus in massachusetts, any engin swap the is changing displacment has to recieve a DMV approval.
Once put a 69 302 into a 83 camaro to run up in Epping NH, ended up having ot sell due to inability to insure, register, inspect.[addsig]
