Did a new trail this weekend - Hidden Valley Road

Pictures later.

The Mighty YJ had a mishap. Emergency brake not set, left in neutral. It got away.

Don't worry everyone is OK. Not much damage. The Mighty YJ was able to bring us home once more!

Interesting trail and trail ride!

Sounds like the YJ was fine, it was the driver who had the mishap ;). Looking forward to the pictures!

OK! Having recovered somewhat, here are some pictures of what happened.

Here I am cleaning the glass off of the hood after the Mighty YJ made a mad dash down the hill.

And here it is after a little clean up. It was remarkably able to return us to Denver after the mishap.

Tom had been driving. We had just winched a Cherokee up a nasty, little soft wash. Tom put the YJ in position to winch up the next guy if he needed it. He left the YJ running and in neutral. The YJ was not chocked and the emergency brake was not on enough for good grip on the 8.8 e-drums. Tom turned to watch the next guy try the obstacle and the YJ made a brake (pun) for it. Thank Goodness a tree stopped it.

The YJ was parked at the top of a go-around blocked by a tree. It was the go-around that the yj went down. The tree blocking the go-around was moved sufficiently to allow it to be used again. The mighty yj was stopped by the tree at about roof level.

I was at the obstacle when I heard a motorized rush and then heard a woody crash. I had no idea what had just happened until I looked up and saw the back of the YJ sticking out of the downed tree...

The only one in the vehicle when it happened, was Molly the Australian Sheperd. She seems fine and was very willing to get out, but went right back in.

It could have been much worse.

wow ! looks like its project time !. glad the Aussie was ok ! ( i have a male aussie named CJ ! ) good luck with the repairs.

OK! We ended up pretty lucky.

We removed the windshield frame and are moving it back into shape. Took it to a windshield shop and the frame is good (they can mount a windshield in the frame. It will need some more body work and some paint, but it is a go.

Windshield? $206. It is at the shop and waiting for install. I figure about a week to finish the frame.

Hard top and the soft top both fit the frame so that is a go. Some re-working of the mounts but minor stuff.

The hood works as is. I'll do body work on the hood as I am able (and have time).

Thanks to Poison Spyder for an excellent cage. It took the hit and is in good shape. A little rewelding to appease my paranoia and it is a go!

It could have been much worse.

Sheesh that is never a good situation. You all are really fortunate, and the damage looks minimal. Looks liek some branches did a number on the hood :(
