I hate transmissions.

hey all, I'm having a problem with my transmission shifting into 2nd. I just had it replaced with a rebuilt one in September for a similar problem. Except my last one would catch and grind on the way into second and sometimes wouldn't go into third. This one just doesn't like going into second very much. It's nowhere as smooth as the other gears. I pretty much hold my breath every time I have to shift. Seems like the slower I shift, the better it goes into gear. Anyway, I was thinking about changing fluid to Redline. Any thoughts on whether or not this would help? The transmission guy that did the swap told me that if I don't use Mopar fluid, the thing won't run right. Any thoughts on that comment?[addsig]

The fluid change will probably help. I have heard redline is good but its pretty pricey and since very very few places have it you will probably have to order it online (more $$$ for shipping etc).

I use Pennzoil Synchromesh Fluid in my transmission and I couldn't be happier with it. The stuff is cheap as well ($5/quart). IT is specially formulated for use in Aisin and New Venture transmissions and is pretty much the same stuff that the stealership will sell you for $15-$20 a quart. I got mine at a local Autozone but most part stores should carry it.[addsig]

certainly... take it from rayo... penn SM fluid is like love in a bottle. change to it and expect to smile. tell your transmission guy to take a lesson from you when you change to it and surpass everyone that uses the recommended gl-5 fluid.[addsig]

I use Redline MT90 and it shifts great. I'll be putting GM Synchromesh in an AX5 I'm installing in a buddies Jeep right now, expecting good results.[addsig]
