Does anyone know why my burned CD's won't play in the infinity but they play in all my other players, and factory CD's play fine in the infinity? Is the encoding different?[addsig]

I had the same problem with both the other cars in my household. A Dodge Intreped and a 97 zj. It's the chyrsler/dodge cd players, they don't play burnt cds. I've been told by my local best buy sales man that it take a differnt color lazer to be able to play burnt cds. I guess the chrysler ones don't have the right color lazer.

Hope that helps[addsig]

yeah i've found that REALLY old players and CD-rom's have problems reading burnt cd's... like previously stated, its something with the color of the laser or something.[addsig]

It has nothing to do with the chyrsler/dodge cd players. I have played burnt CDs on all the Chrysler CD players in my family. What I have had problems with is the actual brand of CD that you use. I have bought some cheap CDs to burn to and have had problems with them. Use decent brand CDs and you will be fine. There are actual Special "music" burnable cds. I have a package of those and have had no problem with them playing on anything.[addsig]

oh on a second note...if you are using an older CD burner (like 2 years old) dont burn at top speed. burn around 8X or less. Those first 12x CD burners suck for video and music. [addsig]

Also try to make sure you "close" the session on the cd your burning. One of my cd players wouldn't play burnt cds with "open" or multiple sessions on the disc.[addsig]

I'm running a TDK VeloCD that is a year old, and using Pioneer CD-R disks. However, I'm writing at the 40x speed, which play in every other player in the house and all cars. Factory CD's play in the infinity fine. I'll try burning one at about 12x to see what happens. Thanks for everyone's input.[addsig]

Ouch 40x speed thats your problem. I burn usually at 8x and dont have any trouble with music or video playing in any cd player. 40x is great for data backups but definitely not .wav files.[addsig]

Well, I'm bummed out. I burned a disc in "closed" mode with Nero on 8x on a Maxell cdrw and the infinity now says "err" and ejects the disc. I feel like I'm running up a mud hill in 2wheel drive....

Maybe the cdrw is the problem. I'm freaking out.......[addsig]

Damn 40x !!!! That is fast...I'm getting behind the times I guess. My first burner was a Memorex 2x...I bought it back in 98 and I paid like $400 for it. I bought another one like 2 years ago that was a 12x and and it was about $100. I thought that was screamin haha. How much did the 40x burner cost? For some odd reason when I try to burn things at 12x the burner usually craps out or something and I end up with a coaster...I usually have to burn everything at 8x instead. Shoot I wish I had the money to keep up with the computer technology...I'm running a 300mhz PentiumII. (I have a 800mhz Pentium3 that I had to rebuild but its not done yet...still needs a hard drive). As far as the cd's go...Imation and Memorex have been the best for me. I have a "modified" playstation that I play burned games in and those things are about the pickiest cd players in the world. Memorex and Imation cds always worked in it though. Oh yeah like dingus said...audio cd players cannot read CD-RW cds. You must use CDR cds for audio cds.[addsig]

My last attempt was with a CDRW so I will try again with a CDR burned on 8x and see what happens. Also, my bad, the TDK VeloCD that i have reads at 40x but burns at 24x. Also, yes, I'm only running a Pentium III 500 with 256 mg. of ram. I can't afford a new computer because all my money is tied up in cars. Hee Hee.[addsig]

yeah, only the newer technology cd decks are reading CDRW's right now ($150 and up usually... my entry-level JVC doesn't read them)[addsig]

Yeah thats true...I haven't bought a CD-RW in a long time...why bother when you can get a pack of 50CD-Rs for like $20 (or less). I thought something was up...I didn't know they had made 40x burners yet haha. I also did not know that they are making CD decks that can read CD-RW's. Thats pretty cool but kind of unnecessary...unless you only have like 5 cdrws. Burn em and play them out and then erase them and burn new songs onto them hahaha.[addsig]
