It sounds like I need a limited slip....not a locker--HELP!

I am going one piece axles and thought I'd improve traction while I'm in there. I do probably 85% of my driving on the street--it's my daily driver. From the folks I've talked to so far it sounds like I need a limited slip. Is it worth the $ and who makes one for the AMC-20 with one-piece axles?

limited slip would be much better than solid axles... especially on the road.... it will still allow for differential movement if needed... and will still allow for torque added to the correct wheels if also needed[addsig]

how much does a limited slip run vs a locker (a detroit, not ARB)? Which of the two is easier to install?

You can buy a late explorer axle from a junk yard... i can't really say a price because they are all different all over... but they come equipped with limited slip and disc brakes... two good things... they are set up for SOA... but if you are not looking to do that, seeing that you have 6 inches already, you can weld the perches under the axle. AND.. if you were to go with a locker... ARB is better in my opinion because they are more durable for offroad due to the driver demand engagement capabilities... there have been many stories about detroits gone wrong... but that is only what I hear... I have not played with either... I would go limited slip[addsig]
