I'm considering this for my 09 Wrangler 2 Dr. Does it really help road debris and bugs etc from hitting your windshield?? Please share your experience.

I bought one very similar for my TJ and didn't like the way it looked when installed, so took it off. I didn't really give it a chance to see if it worked well or not.

also will wear the paint off the hood and grille promoting corrosion and rust. what would you prefer to deal with.. washing bugs off the hood and windshield or a rust body part?

and no, they do not help that much. I have one on my pick up that has been there for about 10 years, I still have chips in my windshield and bugs all over the place.

You may be better off with a clear protective vinyl overlay, like this:

that clear stuff works pretty good. i had it on a bmw, i think. its been so long but i had it on something. it worked out nicely and kept small stuff from breaking the paint because it acts like a very tiny shock absorber
