90, Cherokee with 4.0 , I have a leaking transmission cooling line, where the hose is in the fitting. Anyone have this experience and or a fix for this problem. I think this is considered a "quick connect fitting", and is there any tools needed for removal??
Thanks. Ray[addsig]

The disconnects I guess you mean are up under the radiator. I guess they are supposed to be quick diconnects, but I´ve always had trouble getting them apart (red ears and viens popping out on my forearms). The dealer usually cuts off the ends (disconnect) and slides the hose over the metal line, with two (TWO) hose clamps.
I replaced the whole line with Aeroquip oil lines, that where, really expensive and turned hard as stone after a couple of years (but havn´t leaked yet).
The "O" rings for the inside of the quick disconnect are sometimes available at the Jeep dealer and have stopped the seep for awhile, but the leak usually comes back.
Pressing the plastic tabs at the end of the fitting and twisting and pulling like heck are usually whats required to get the quick disconnect to function (these quick disconnects seem like a good idea gone wrong). Maybe there is a trick to these things I´ve never learned, but on occasion, have used a pair of pliers and all the strength I have, to quick disconnect them.

Thanks,,,,my brother did speak to a guy at a transmission place, and he said he sees Cherokees all the time for this item. I wasn't sure if you could get if off without some type of crimping/de-crimping tool. But since you were succesful , I'll cut/wrestle them off. Thanks again![addsig]
