Lift Struts on '95 Jeep Cherokee

Does anyone know if I need a special tool to release the old lift struts from the lift gate?

It's a ball and stud mount. no special tools required. A small flat head screw driver to pry on the spring clip is all you need and someone to hold the liftgate for you. It would be a big headache if you dont get any help.
