Mirrors/paint

One of my mirrors has paint cracking from all over it. Since I can find mirrors pretty cheap id rather replace them than have to worry about touching it up, or having the rest flake off. My question is if I replace the whole mirror, that is everything from the mirror down to the brackets that actually screw into the jeep will I crack and ruin the paint on the door of my jeep? On TJ's (not sure about Yj's) there is a rubber "insulator" under the mount, so don't worry about the paint.[addsig]

I have a problem with mirror movers. I tried to install them on my '89, only find that the windshield torx bolt heads are stripped. They looked fine to begin with, but after trying a wrench on them, I learned that the previous ownwer had stripped them, then coverd them with touch-up paint. Now I just rely on the orig door mirrors, then put the off road mirrors on the door hinges when the doors are removed. It's a pain, but at least I don't have to deal with removing the windshield brackets.[addsig]

Yeah, my windsheild hinge bolts are stripped also, whoever at chrysler decided it would be a good ideal to use TORX head bolts on jeeps should be shot, once it gets warmer im going to have to tap out all of the old bolts so i can put on my mirror movers and new windsheild hinges
