I admit to being short on patientence, but this lap top really pushes me to the limit at times. Had just clicked on and off jeepz .com useing the favorites bar icon. Noticed a new icon I hadn't seen before on the favorites bar. Clicked on it and it brought me to jeepz.com. Why does this happen? I dont get it, then occasionally a box well pop up saying "high cpu usage by internet explorer". Is this something to be concerned about? I'm half afraid to down load much any more cause the damn thing rearranges itself ,and I spend the next couple of days curseing at it getting oreintated with it again.

With explorer running you should have between 5 and 20% CPU usage. Open task manager and see what applications are running or what processes are running. Do you have scanning software running in the background? Some will monitor each website you visit. Or there could be spy-ware or malware... running. If you have protection SW run them. Remove unused programs. Do a disk clean up and check your fragmentation. If you have less than 15% memory left or multiple fragmentations you will run slow.

PS and delete your browsing history.

Thanks for the info, I'm still quite ignorant about this thing. Messed with it a little , hope I didn't make things worse.

Delete your browsing history.
Run your spyware/adware programs & virus software.
What virus spyware...programs do you have?

What web browser are you using??

Wrong icons in address bar and favorites list in IE8 - Microsoft Answers
Deleted browsing history. I have Norton 360, if that answers the question about spyware, I guess it's internet explorer, is my web browser. I think that I really need to hook up with someone that knows these things and can set down with me with it. There's a third grader next door, maybe if i give him some candy , he'll help me out lol. So far since I did some of your suggestions the little block saying" high cpu usage by internet explorer" has not poped back up. Thanks for the help.

But in all reality. Sounds like it needs to be cleaned up and the hard drive fragmented.

A lot of the problem is the operator, me. this is my first laptop. Took a course at vo tec" introduction to computors" crash course. After takeing the course, decided to buy one cause that was the only way I was gonna learn about it,just gotta keep messing with it. Thanks a lot for your help.

There are freeware out there that is good. I use a few at a time. SUPERantispywhere, Malwarebytes, are two good ones. They take a while to run but have capture a lot.

There aren't any Jeepz.com spyware apps. A more likely possibility is that the icon was put there by drag and drop.

All you have to do to get an icon on the favorites bar is click on the little icon next to hiip://www.jeepz.com in the address bar and drag it down a quarter of an inch then let go. You'll end up with a shortcut on your favorites bar (I noticed this because I've done it several times by accident). You go and type jeepz.com in the address bar, then go to move the mouse down the screen and end up accidentally dragging the icon.

You've most likely got a laptop with the mouse where your thumb naturally rests right? My laptop is the same way and I move the mouse all over by accident.

Now the high CPU usage I don't know about.

Terry, I read this as there are new icons showing up that connect to Jeepz and sometimes they move around on the favorites bar.
