need fuel pump help

I have a 97 wrangler, 4 cylinder, hasn't moved in over a year, changed battery, changed plugs wires distributor cap and rotor. Engibe cranks, but won't turn, worried it may be fuel filter or pump clogged, was also told it has no fuel filter, just pump and strainer. Question is where is the pump relay, fuse and are there any ideas on how to get it going. Please offer any help, thank u.

I have a 97 tj 4 banger aswell. The fuel filter is with in the pump and can't be replaced with out replacing the whole sending unit (this is what I was told) I replaced mine a few months back and was fairly easy. Do you hear a winding noise coming from the tank? If not then that may be your problem. The fuel pump fuse should be located in the fuse box under the hood. The cover for the fuse box will tell you the exact location. Is your jeep putting out any trouble codes (check engine light)?

No trouble codes, talked to a mechanic today saod he would drop tank and change pump and strained, never mentioned the whole sending unit, right now lookong at 130 for parts and 120 for labor, makes ne wish I had taken some kind of auto classes, LOL,.thank u

where are you at? south texas is bigger then a number of states? if you are in corpus, we have a bunch of jeep people who can come help out to get you back on the road. if you are in corpus and are on base, its even better.

This ONE sounds like a fun one. Couple of suggestions: First take a minute or two to READ my Posts under : Cherokee Thread-- fuel pump electrical issues (11-14). It's for a Cherokee - But. A lot of the INFO will be OK for you. That's #1. Secondly: Do you hear the. - FUEL. PuMP. Come on at all? (Remove gas cap) Have you checked the FUEL RAIL to see IF you have fuel pressure ?? (Scrader valve). Have you checked the. CONNECTOR at. The FUEL PUMP to see IF there is 12V ? No CODES?? GOOD LUCK! JB

It isn't really as hard as you may think. Just drain the gas out. Disconnect the harnest going into the fuel pump and disconnect the filler tube from the filler neck along with all the other plumbing and unbolt the skid plate from the chassi and slowly lower your tank. More time consuming than hard. I don't know about the just replacing the pump. Looking at my old unit it didn't come apart and the pump was housed inside the plastic pieces. My explanation above was just a nutshell if you would like I can go into great detail as I did mine a few months ago and only took me 3 hours to do (I had a full tank and had to drain in with a 1/4 inch hose)
