No fuel, no start

Okay, I was driving and the jeep ran out of fuel although I had a quarter tank. Will not restart. It was running perfect before this issue. Pulled fuel lines off the fuel filter and they are dry. Put starter fluid in and will run till it burns off then nothing. A long time ago the vapor canister was dripping fuel after filling the tank. Once tank burned off a bit it never leaked at the canister again, however, I never fill past half because of that issue...never fixed just avoided. No I hooked an oil pump to the fuel lines and no fuel comes out no matter how long I pump, but I can hear a hissing sound on the vapor canister that is coming from the line that goes back to the fuel tank. If I pinch off that line the hissing stops, but still no fuel. What might be the problem as the mud is on its way. Need to get this thing rolling.

It would help if we had a little info on what the jeep is and whats in it.

Electric or manual fuel pump?. If it's electric and the hissing(air) is coming out of the line then there woulod be a leak in the siphon tube in the tank.

I would think mechanical or electric pump if you can’t get fuel out of the tank by any means then there most likely is a crack/break in the line between the pump and the tank that is sucking air not fuel. Full blockage would be the other option.

It is a mechanical pump and I tried to pump fuel between the carb and the fuel pump. The hissing sound is at the charcoal canister and it is coming from the line that goes back to the tank...the roll over line. Why would the pump pump air from that line. I would think the fuel line be submerged in fuel inside the tank. I wonder if the fuel pick up broke inside the tank. Also, that would be a lot of air to suck out of the tank first before running back to the fuel canister. The other problem I had that night when the jeep stopped is that I had gotten gas that morning and forgot the dang fuel cap at the station...that would not be a problem though...or would it (no rain, mud or other contamination). Drove without fuel cap about 5 miles or so.
