no park lights/dash lights

just wondering if it is common for headlight switchs to fail on old cherokees, mine is an 89 xj with 260,000. is it common, i've cover all the basic checks so thats why i question the switch its self. i wonder if this is the cause of my light problem...and yes i checked the fuses

Anything is possible. I don't know if I would call it a common problem, it really depends on the switch and how often it was used, etc.

I've heard tell of the switches failing, and I know that mine gets awfully hot in my '00, figure it'll probably be one of those every 5 year things or so in the near future... But that's all the info I've got...
