Hey everyone. I just got back from a family party, when I noticed I had zero fluid in my clutch res. I refilled it, looked underneath, and saw a drip stream from the bottom of the bell housing. OH BOY! I'm workin' through this deliema, but am wondering how to fix this. I'm guessing it's the internal slave from the pilot bearing that went bad. My question is can I take the bell housing, pilot bearing, and slave from a 94 AX-5 or AX-15 and bolt it to my 93 AX-15 transmission? :-? [addsig]

i think 94 is when they changed over to the external slave... but if you switch over the bellhousing it should adapt right... though... i am not sure if the ax5 bhsng will fit the ax15. lots of conversions to be factored in... and.. if the input shafts are different, then the pilots could be different, you'd be best off buying a new pilot bearing... my local parts stores didn't have the pilot i needed so I got a bushing machined for $20... its a lot of money for a small piece of bronze... but that is a small price to pay for something that works... a bearing would be cheaper too. like i said.. there's a lot to look in to on that... best choice would be probably to get a new slave and pilot.[addsig]

I know that it would just be more feasible to get another pilot bearing/slave for my AX-15, but I don't want to go through all that in intitles again. That's the main reason I want to swith the bell housing. If I can find a housing from an AX-15 from a 94, I would be happier. I've heard of this being done... just wondering what you guys and gals thought. Thanks for the reply Snitty. ;-) [addsig]

It will work, is fairly easy, and is the best way to go to get rid of the problematic internal clutch slave.

What you need from a '94 or newer AX15 equipped Jeep:
Bellhousing
Clutch release arm
Clutch master cylinder
Clutch bearing
Transmission front seal cover (this is what the clutch bearing rides on, easy to install)

Go ahead and get the flywheel and clutch kit from a '94 or newer if you can, '93 was kind of an in-between transition year, the '93 clutch is different from pre-'93 and post-'93, odd-ball.

I just put a '91 transmission in my '95, and had to change over the transmission front cover, due to the differences in clutch slaves.[addsig]

Yeah dude...there are a bunch of articles out there from people who swapped out their problematic internal slaves for the new kind...the hard part will be FINDING the parts you need. I put a 93 transmission in my 95 and also had to change out the front bearing retainer just like bounty hunter. After that I just used all my same parts...they all bolted right up to the 93 transmission.[addsig]
